Splicing Shims

Copper shims for secure, mechanical SMT carrier tape joins

Antistat splicing shims, also referred to as splice clips or shim clips, are non-adhesive copper shims that provide a secure mechanical connection when joining SMT carrier tape reels. Ultra-flat and precision-cut, they are designed to pass cleanly through pick-and-place feeders without shifting or causing indexing errors. Compatible with all paper and plastic carrier tapes and conforming to EIA-481B.

Single splicing shims are used with the SMT manual splice tool and are suited to lower-volume or occasional splicing across all standard tape widths. For high-volume production lines, bandolier splicing shims are supplied in strip format and loaded into the semi-automatic splice tool, which presents 20 shims sequentially for faster, more consistent joins. For a combined solution, splice tape with shim integrates the shim and adhesive connector into a single unit, reducing handling steps on the production floor.

Use with our SMT splice tools and splice tape connectors.
