Add an extra 480mm of cover tape to reduce reel waste and machine downtime in SMT manufacturing process

Cover tape extenders are designed to simplify SMT reel changeovers by extending existing component cover tape and enabling smooth engagement with the take-up winding spool. By adding an additional 48cm (18.9in) of leader length, they help prevent unnecessary component reel waste, reduce setup time, and minimise machine downtime during loading.

Manufactured from soft, transparent PET, these 48cm long strips provide a clear, non-adhesive main tape length for reliable feeding, with a yellow peel-off adhesive tab for quick and secure attachment to the existing cover tape. Once applied, the extended cover tape can be fed directly into the feeder system, supporting consistent take-up and reducing the risk of misfeeds or component loss.

Compatible with paper or plastic carrier tapes, including punched or formed pockets, these extenders are available in widths to suit common SMD reel tape sizes.

Available in 8mm, 12mm and 16mm widths supplied in packs of 500, and 24mm and 32mm widths supplied in packs of 250.
